The Washington Wizards announced Saturday that guard Trae Young has aggravated a right quadriceps contusion and is also dealing with lower-back irritation, putting his return this season in serious doubt.
According to the team, Young reinjured his quad during the third quarter of Monday’s matchup against the Golden State Warriors. Follow-up imaging performed because of persistent back pain confirmed irritation in the lower back, The Athletic’s Josh Robbins reported on social media.
The Wizards said both ailments are being managed conservatively and do not require surgery at this time.
No timetable was provided, but the statement indicated that Young is unlikely to see the floor again before the 2025-26 campaign concludes.
