The Washington Wizards have signed free-agent forward Anthony Gill to a one-year agreement, league sources told HoopsHype on Thursday.
NBA.com’s transactions log confirmed the deal at 1:12 p.m. CST on Aug. 7, finalizing Gill’s return to the franchise he has represented for the past five seasons.
Gill, 32, was waived in late June before his $2,546,675 salary for the 2025-26 season became guaranteed. Both the team and the player had expressed interest in a reunion, and Thursday’s announcement completes that plan.
The new pact is worth the veterans minimum of $2,667,947. Because of the league’s reimbursement policy, Washington’s cap charge will drop to $2,296,274, the equivalent of a third-year player.
Last season the 6-7 forward appeared in 51 games, averaging 2.5 points and 1.3 rebounds in 7.8 minutes. Aside from the Wizards, several EuroLeague clubs were reportedly interested in signing him this summer.

Gill entered the NBA in 2020 after four years overseas—one in Turkey with Yesilgiresun Belediye and three with Russia’s Khimki, then a EuroLeague participant. He originally went undrafted out of Virginia in 2016.
With Gill back, Washington now carries 16 standard contracts, one above the regular-season maximum. Forward Justin Champagnie is on a non-guaranteed deal but is expected to secure a roster spot after a breakout 2024-25 campaign, leaving newcomers such as Malaki Branham or Dillon Jones potentially fighting for the final opening if Gill remains.
