The Washington Wizards are keeping second-year center Alex Sarr off the floor as he continues to rehabilitate an adductor strain, head coach Brian Keefe told reporters. The injury has already forced the 7-footer to miss six straight games.

Keefe said the issue was initially considered minor, yet he emphasized that soft-tissue problems are often unpredictable. With Washington sitting at 4-20, the staff has opted for a cautious timetable rather than risk a setback.

Despite the layoff, Sarr remains the club’s statistical leader, averaging 19.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. His two-way production has been one of the few constants for a roster in the early stages of a rebuild.

Keefe added that Sarr is “getting closer” to full basketball activities, but no target date has been set for his return. For now, the organization appears focused on ensuring the 21-year-old’s long-term health before inserting him back into the rotation.
