The Washington Wizards have reached an agreement with veteran forward/center Skal Labissiere on a training-camp contract, NBA insider Chris Haynes reported Tuesday.

Washington already has 15 players on guaranteed contracts, so Labissiere will enter camp competing for an open spot. His addition, along with the earlier signing of guard Alondes Williams on the same day, lifts the Wizards’ offseason roster to 20 players—one below the league’s maximum.

Labissiere, 29, has appeared in 152 NBA games since being selected in the first round of the 2016 draft. After four seasons outside the league, he returned last year and played four games for the Sacramento Kings on a 10-day deal signed in March to bolster an injury-depleted frontcourt.

The 6-foot-10 big man spent his first four NBA seasons with Sacramento and Portland, logging 148 games from 2016 through 2020. Since then he has primarily played in the G League, including the past two years with the Stockton Kings, where he averaged 14.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 26.8 minutes over 44 appearances last season.

Labissiere also suited up for Orlando’s Summer League squad in July and had a brief stint in Puerto Rico. He will attempt to parlay the Wizards’ camp invitation into either a regular-season roster spot or a role with the organization’s G League affiliate.
