Anthony Davis has been cleared to participate in light individual workouts, the Washington Wizards announced on Thursday.

The 10-time All-Star, sidelined since Jan. 8 with ligament damage in his left hand, underwent an evaluation this week in Los Angeles. Team physicians approved him for “limited on-court activities,” and a follow-up examination is scheduled in two weeks.

Washington acquired Davis in a midseason trade despite his injury, viewing the move as a long-term investment. The club also brought in guard Trae Young while he was managing quad and knee issues.

With fewer than six weeks remaining in the regular season, the Wizards sit outside the playoff picture and are focused on protecting their top-eight-protected 2026 first-round draft pick. Even so, general manager Will Dawkins said shortly after the trade deadline that Davis would suit up this year if his recovery permits.

The forthcoming medical update will determine whether the veteran center could make his Wizards debut before the season ends this spring.
