Wizards’ Anthony Davis Approved for Light Contact Work in Hand Rehab

Washington Wizards center Anthony Davis has been given permission to participate in light contact drills as he continues to recover from ligament damage in his left hand, the team announced Monday.

Medical staff reevaluated the 32-year-old earlier in the day and confirmed his recovery is proceeding on schedule. Despite the positive update, the club has not set a date for his return to game action.

Davis has not been officially ruled out for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. However, with fewer than two weeks left in the regular season and only seven games remaining, a comeback appears unlikely. Washington shares the league’s worst record with Indiana at 17-58, positioning the franchise for a high draft pick.

The eight-time All-Star arrived in Washington at the February trade deadline. At that time, several reporters indicated his season was probably over, while general manager Will Dawkins said he expected Davis to suit up before the April 12 finale.

Injuries have limited Davis to 20 appearances this year, all with the Dallas Mavericks. He averaged 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 blocks across 31.3 minutes per game.

Davis is under contract for two more seasons at roughly $121.2 million, with a player option for the final year.
