The Washington Wizards continued to reshape their preseason roster on Tuesday by signing forward Akoldah Gak to an Exhibit 10 contract and waiving rookie guard Keshon Gilbert, the club announced.
Gak Joins Camp Roster
Gak, 23, arrives after spending part of 2025 with the Mexico City Capitanes in the NBA G League. The 6-foot-11 Australian averaged 4.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists across three appearances for Washington’s Summer League squad in Las Vegas this July.
Before coming to North America, Gak earned regular minutes with the Cairns Taipans of Australia’s National Basketball League. During the 2024-25 NBL season he produced 6.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 19.5 minutes per game while shooting 51.5 percent from the field.
His Exhibit 10 deal positions him as a strong candidate to join the Wizards’ G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go. If Washington waives him before the regular season and he spends at least 60 days with the Go-Go, he could collect a bonus of up to $85,300 on top of his G League salary.
Gilbert Waived After Short Stay
Gilbert signed with Washington on Sept. 19 after going undrafted out of Iowa State. The 6-foot-4 point guard averaged 13.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 29 games as a senior, earning All-Big 12 recognition for the second straight year. He is also expected to be considered for a spot with the Capital City Go-Go.
Following Tuesday’s moves, the Wizards move closer to finalizing their camp group ahead of the opening of the 2025-26 season.
