New Orleans Pelicans head coach Willie Green said he is in constant communication with head of basketball operations Joe Dumars as the team searches for its first win of the season.

“We’re all frustrated, want to be better,” Green told reporters, adding that he and Dumars talk “every day” about possible solutions. “We’re all a part of making sure that we do everything we can to be better.”

The Pelicans have opened the schedule 0-6 and have already suffered three defeats by at least 30 points, including a 31-point loss in Oklahoma City. They are one of only two NBA teams without a victory.

According to a report by Marc Stein, members of the organization are questioning whether the roster has enough outside shooting and playmaking to contend even for a spot in the play-in tournament.

Owner Gayle Benson is described as a strong supporter of Green, with league sources saying she favored retaining him when Dumars assumed control of basketball operations. However, those same sources cautioned that patience inside the franchise is not unlimited.

The club recently invested an unprotected 2026 first-round pick to draft forward Derik Queen and prevented assistant coach James Borrego from interviewing with the New York Knicks this summer, moves interpreted around the league as preparation in case a coaching change becomes necessary.

The Pelicans next opportunity to halt their slide comes later this week, but for now the internal temperature continues to rise around a team still searching for its first win.
