With NBA training camps fast approaching, several well-known veterans and recent lottery picks remain without deals for the 2024-25 season.
Restricted Free Agents
Jonathan Kuminga, SF, Golden State Warriors – The athletic wing fell out of Steve Kerr’s rotation at times last year and is widely viewed as a candidate for a fresh start elsewhere.
Quentin Grimes, SG, Philadelphia 76ers – Acquired from Dallas, the guard nearly averaged 22 points per game after landing in Philadelphia and could be in line for a sizable payday if an agreement is not reached this summer.
Unrestricted Free Agents
Malik Beasley, SG – One of the league’s most reliable three-point shooters, he converted 41.6 percent from deep last season. His market value is complicated by an ongoing gambling investigation.
Al Horford, C – No longer the All-Star version of his earlier career, the veteran still offers dependable defense and floor spacing and has said he intends to continue playing.
Russell Westbrook, PG – While far removed from his MVP prime, the fiery guard provided Denver with energy in a reduced role last year and remains popular with teammates.
Precious Achiuwa, C – Brings high motor, switchability on defense and shot-blocking, though his offensive game is limited.
Malcolm Brogdon, PG – A difficult, injury-marred campaign in Washington hurt his stock, but when healthy he is still regarded as a steady backcourt presence.
Ben Simmons, PG – The former No. 1 pick’s name now outweighs his recent production. Reports indicate he is considering retirement after a turbulent season split between Brooklyn and the Clippers.
Additional Role Players
Free-agent depth pieces such as Amir Coffey, Gary Payton II, Thomas Bryant, Garrison Mathews and Cameron Payne also remain unsigned.
Training camps often create roster openings, leaving time for these players to secure new opportunities before the season begins.
