The NBA’s All-Star festivities, a potential league expansion, and a roster move in Chicago are all in focus as the weekend unfolds.

All-Star Saturday Features Shooting and Showtime

Saturday night’s schedule includes the Three-Point Contest, the revived Shooting Stars competition, and the Slam Dunk Contest. Former long-range champions Damian Lillard and Devin Booker headline the eight-player field in the three-point event.

The Shooting Stars challenge returns for the first time since 2015, replacing the Skills Challenge to inject a dose of nostalgia. Steven Louis Goldstein of The Athletic has produced a comprehensive guide to the night’s action.

Expansion Vote Expected This Summer

Discussions about adding new franchises are gaining momentum. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania and the Dallas Morning News’ Brad Townsend, the NBA Board of Governors is now expected to vote on expansion this summer. The league’s spring meeting will be used to gather additional information after some owners pushed for an earlier decision.

Seattle and Las Vegas remain the leading candidates should the league move forward with expansion.

Bulls Give Mac McClung a Two-Way Contract

The Chicago Bulls have signed three-time Slam Dunk Contest winner Mac McClung to a two-way deal. The 27-year-old guard continues to pursue a full-time NBA role after declining lucrative overseas offers to stay in the G League.

“This is where my heart’s at,” McClung told ESPN’s Anthony Olivieri. “You can’t keep telling me no forever.”

The weekend slate, looming expansion decision, and McClung’s latest opportunity highlight a busy stretch for the league.
