Warriors to Reevaluate De’Anthony Melton in Three Weeks

The Golden State Warriors expect to reassess guard De’Anthony Melton in three weeks as he continues to recover from last season’s left ACL tear, the team announced Wednesday.

Melton, 27, has recently intensified his workouts, moving from individual and small-group sessions toward full team activities. Over the next couple of weeks, the Warriors plan to include him in practices with both the NBA club and their G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, which has a more frequent practice schedule.

The timeline means Melton’s first appearance of the 2025-26 regular season would not come until late November at the earliest—a schedule that matches head coach Steve Kerr’s Oct. 1 prediction that the guard could return “in the next couple months.”

Melton opened the 2024-25 campaign with Golden State and impressed in six regular-season games before suffering the ACL injury. While sidelined, he was traded to Brooklyn for salary-matching purposes, then rejoined the Warriors this summer on a two-year, minimum-salary deal that includes a player option for 2026-27.

Known for his versatility on both ends of the floor—ball-handling, perimeter shooting, and multi-position defense—Melton is expected to hold a steady role in the Warriors’ backcourt once fully cleared.
