The Golden State Warriors intend to sign free agent center Omer Yurtseven to a 10-day contract, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Yurtseven, 27, had just joined the G League’s Rio Grande Valley Vipers and played three games for Houston’s affiliate, averaging 23.0 points, 13.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks while shooting nearly 57 percent from the floor.
The 7-footer logged 113 NBA appearances with the Miami Heat and Utah Jazz from 2021-24, posting career averages of 5.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in limited minutes. Before returning to the United States this month, the Turkish big man spent much of the past two seasons with Panathinaikos in Greece’s EuroLeague.
Golden State’s frontcourt depth has been tested by a lengthy injury list. Jimmy Butler (torn ACL) and Stephen Curry (runner’s knee) have been sidelined since January, while Moses Moody has missed six straight games because of a wrist sprain. The club is also without Al Horford (calf strain) for multiple contests, and Seth Curry is nursing an adductor issue. Draymond Green and Quinten Post have likewise appeared on recent injury reports.
As a three-year NBA veteran, Yurtseven will earn $136,717 during the 10-day span, with the deal counting roughly $131,970 against the salary cap. The Warriors had an open roster slot, so no corresponding move is required.
