San Francisco, CA — Forward Jonathan Kuminga will sit out for the seventh straight game when the Golden State Warriors host the Houston Rockets on Wednesday as he continues to deal with knee tendinitis.

The 22-year-old told ESPN’s Anthony Slater he expects to return “soon” after taking part in 3-on-3 work during Tuesday’s practice. Kuminga is scheduled to scrimmage again Wednesday. Before the setback, he averaged 13.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists.

Veteran center Al Horford (nerve issue) has also been ruled out for the Rockets matchup.

Green Close to Rejoining Lineup

Draymond Green, sidelined Monday with a foot injury, has been upgraded to probable, according to Slater. The four-time All-Star has a $27,678,571 player option for next season, the final year of his contract.

Butler Shines, Markkanen Struggles vs. Jazz

Jimmy Butler posted 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting, six rebounds and seven assists in Monday’s 17-point win over Utah, finishing plus-19 in 28 minutes. Lauri Markkanen, a player Golden State pursued prior to last season before trading for Butler, was limited to 17 points on 31.6% shooting against smaller Warriors defenders.

Roster Flexibility Remains

The Warriors are now far enough below the hard cap to add a 15th player. Each day they wait to fill the spot slightly increases their cap flexibility.
