Golden State’s injury list grew longer over the weekend, as center Al Horford and guard Seth Curry are both scheduled for reevaluation in roughly one week following MRI examinations.
According to The Athletic’s Nick Friedell, Horford sustained a right calf strain in the opening quarter of Friday’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Initial reports described the problem as tightness, but imaging later confirmed the strain. Head coach Steve Kerr told reporters that the veteran big man is expected to sit out several upcoming games.
Curry left the same contest in the second quarter and was later diagnosed with a left adductor strain. The 33-year-old guard has appeared in only four games since signing with the Warriors in early December, struggling to stay on the floor because of various physical setbacks.
Horford, 37, has played in 43 games this season, averaging 8.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 21.7 minutes per outing.
The Warriors were already shorthanded for Sunday’s matchup with the New York Knicks, with Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis, DeAnthony Melton and Stephen Curry unavailable.
