Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. said Tuesday he does not expect to shop Jimmy Butler after the forward’s season-ending right ACL tear.

“I don’t envision that,” Dunleavy told reporters before the club faced the Toronto Raptors. He added that the organization expects the 36-year-old to give the team “a boost” when he returns during the 2026-27 campaign.

Dunleavy, who described himself as “crushed” for Butler, acknowledged the injury complicates decisions ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline. “We hate it for him but the beat goes on,” he said.

Limited Interest in Kuminga

The executive also addressed Jonathan Kuminga’s Jan. 15 trade request, noting the market has been quiet. “When there’s a demand, there needs to be a demand on the market,” Dunleavy explained. He emphasized that any move must benefit the franchise and said “nothing is imminent.”

Dunleavy revealed he will spend the next two weeks reassessing the roster in light of Butler’s absence. He also indicated the team would consider surrendering future first-round picks only for players whose timelines extend beyond Stephen Curry’s tenure.

Kerr Shares Outlook

Head coach Steve Kerr echoed Dunleavy’s disappointment over Butler’s injury. “He was really at the top of his game,” Kerr said. Despite the setback, Kerr believes the Warriors can stay competitive; they had won six of their previous seven games entering Tuesday.

Kerr added that Kuminga “wants to play for the Warriors,” but declined to guarantee rotation minutes. The 23-year-old forward, who logged just 10 minutes since Dec. 7, was slated to enter Tuesday’s contest early in the second quarter with Golden State down 13 points.
