Golden State is positioning itself as one of the most aggressive bidders for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, league sources told NBC Sports Bay Area. Owner Joe Lacob is described as a major admirer of the 10-time All-Star, and the front office is reportedly prepared to part with significant draft capital and players to complete a deal.

“If we’re talking about trading picks that will convey after Steph (Curry) is gone, the player we get back has to be extremely impactful,” general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. said last week. “We’ve got everything in the war chest that we would be willing to use.”

Package May Be Most Competitive—For Now

During Friday’s edition of ESPN’s “NBA Countdown,” Brian Windhorst said the Warriors currently possess “the best” proposal among teams pursuing Antetokounmpo. He added that Golden State may need to finalize a trade by next Thursday, arguing the club’s offer cannot improve once rival teams gain additional assets this summer.

Locker-Room Perspective

Stephen Curry and Draymond Green told The Athletic they rarely lobby for roster moves but remain informed when decisions are looming. “We’re not chasing anything but greatness,” Green said. “You don’t chase greatness by whining about a roster—you embrace the roster you have.”

Kerr Expects Action Late

Head coach Steve Kerr told 95.7 FM’s “Steiny and Guru” that he has not been presented with formal offers and anticipates negotiations going “to the last second” before the Feb. 5 deadline.

Scouting Trip to New Zealand

Dunleavy and assistant general manager Larry Harris were in New Zealand on Friday to evaluate NBL prospects Karim Lopez and Dash Daniels, both projected first-round picks, according to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc.

Kerr’s Future Undecided

Kerr, whose contract expires after this season, told ESPN’s Anthony Slater he will wait until the offseason to determine whether he will return for year 13. “Let’s wait until the end of the year and see if everybody’s aligned,” he said, noting that ownership faces several “interesting” decisions about the franchise’s direction.

The Warriors enter the final week before the trade deadline weighing a potential blockbuster that could reshape the organization for years to come.
