Warriors eye Michael Porter Jr., Trey Murphy III and Herb Jones ahead of trade deadline

With the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline approaching, the Golden State Warriors are concentrating their search for wing help on three names: Brooklyn’s Michael Porter Jr. and New Orleans duo Trey Murphy III and Herbert Jones, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

Mixed signals persist regarding Brooklyn’s stance on Porter. Golden State is reportedly unwilling to surrender more than one first-round pick for the 25-year-old forward, largely because any offer would also include Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. The Warriors are described as “very open” to moving Moody, citing internal frustration over the 23-year-old’s development.

New Orleans has signaled little interest in dealing Murphy or Jones, but the Warriors are still monitoring both players. For Murphy, Kuminga would serve as the primary salary match, and Golden State is said to be willing to attach two first-round selections. No comparable framework has been outlined for Jones.

If Brooklyn were to engage, a package centered on Kuminga, Moody, Buddy Hield and a future first-round pick has been floated, though the Nets’ appetite for that proposal remains uncertain. Siegel adds that Porter could become Golden State’s top priority if the asking price stays within that range.

Should the Warriors miss on Porter, Murphy or Jones, they are expected to explore lower-cost alternatives such as Naji Marshall, Ayo Dosunmu, Daniel Gafford and Bobby Portis.
