San Francisco — The Golden State Warriors plan to keep forward Jonathan Kuminga on the bench while they look for a trade ahead of the NBA’s Feb. 5 deadline, league sources told ClutchPoints reporter Brett Siegel.

The 23-year-old has missed the club’s last nine games, including seven listings as a coach’s decision. Part of the absence, according to the report, stems from Kuminga’s representatives preferring to avoid injury risk during ongoing negotiations.

Both the organization and the player’s camp reportedly agree that a deal should be completed in the coming weeks. Kuminga becomes trade-eligible on Jan. 15 after signing a two-year, $46.8 million extension in October. His contract carries a $22.5 million cap hit this season and includes a $24.3 million team option for 2025-26.

The Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans are considered primary suitors, while the Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazers have also been linked to the forward.

Golden State is said to be targeting a wing capable of three-point shooting and perimeter defense to play alongside Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green. The team is reportedly willing to package Kuminga with Moses Moody or Buddy Hield to secure such a player.
