Veteran guard De’Anthony Melton is expected to suit up for the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night in Philadelphia, marking his first game action since tearing the ACL in his left knee last November, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The 26-year-old was left off Golden State’s initial injury report, clearing the way for his first outing in nearly 13 months. Melton had spent the fall completing his rehabilitation from the knee injury that limited him to just six contests last season.
Melton originally joined the Warriors on a one-year contract during the 2024 offseason and averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals in a little more than 20 minutes per game before getting hurt. In the 121 minutes he logged, Golden State posted a +10.9 net rating.
After a brief stop in Brooklyn, Melton re-signed with Golden State in the fall, but availability has remained an issue. Between the knee recovery and a lingering back problem carried over from last year, he has appeared in only 14 games since January 2024. Head coach Steve Kerr is expected to keep the guard on a minutes restriction while he works back into the rotation.
The Warriors could use the reinforcement. Stephen Curry is still sidelined by a quad contusion, and rotation players Jimmy Butler, Jonathan Kuminga and Quinten Post are listed as questionable for Thursday’s matchup.
