The Golden State Warriors indicated Saturday that De’Anthony Melton could make his season debut during the club’s upcoming three-game road trip, pending final medical clearance.

The 27-year-old combo guard has been ruled out for the last two contests of the current home stand—Saturday night against the New Orleans Pelicans and Tuesday versus the Oklahoma City Thunder—but the team said he might be available as early as Thursday in Philadelphia. Golden State also visits Cleveland next Saturday and Chicago next Sunday.

According to the team, Melton is “making good progress” in his recovery from a torn ACL suffered last November. He has been participating in full scrimmages with both the Warriors and their G League affiliate in Santa Cruz.

Melton signed a one-year, $12.8 million deal with Golden State in July 2024 but appeared in only six games before the injury. He underwent surgery on December 4 and missed the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign. In those six outings, including two starts, he averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 20.2 minutes while shooting 40.7 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from three-point range.

The veteran guard re-signed with the Warriors in October on a $3 million contract that carries a $3.45 million player option for 2026-27. His agreement was finalized after forward Jonathan Kuminga’s contract negotiations concluded.

Golden State expects Melton to hold a key rotation role once he returns. He last played a full season in 2021-22 with Memphis, earning votes for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award.
