The Portland Trail Blazers have secured forward Toumani Camara on a four-year, $82 million contract extension, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Monday.
Camara, 25, has rapidly become a cornerstone in Portland since arriving from Phoenix in the 2023 trade that also delivered center Deandre Ayton. Starting all 78 games in the 2024-25 season, the 6-foot-8 wing averaged 11.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 37.5 percent from three-point range.
His defensive impact drew league-wide recognition. Camara finished ninth in total steals, appeared on several Defensive Player of the Year ballots and earned a spot on the NBA’s All-Defensive Second Team. He was one of only seven players to post at least 100 steals and 50 blocks last season.
Selected 52nd overall in the 2023 draft, the Belgium-born forward spent two collegiate seasons at Georgia and two at Dayton, closing his senior year with 13.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He has boosted his perimeter accuracy from 30.7 percent in college to 37.5 percent in the NBA, enhancing his versatility at both ends of the floor.
The new agreement replaces Camara’s $2.4 million team option for 2026-27, keeping him under contract with Portland for five seasons in total. While the collective bargaining agreement would have allowed a maximum of roughly $87 million over four years, the parties settled a few million below that mark.
Cap analyst Yossi Gozlan notes the extension leaves Portland with enough luxury-tax flexibility in 2026-27 to pursue a deal with guard Shaedon Sharpe, whose rookie-scale extension window closes later Monday.
