Zion Williamson’s latest hamstring setback has done little to stir trade interest, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontemps. Executives told the outlet that teams remain wary of the New Orleans Pelicans forward’s durability, noting this is his fifth career hamstring injury. Despite two non-guaranteed seasons left on Williamson’s contract, rival clubs are hesitant to absorb the risk.
New Orleans also lacks control of its 2026 first-round pick, limiting incentives for a full rebuild. One opposing executive suggested the Pelicans are more likely to pursue a “win-now” acquisition than to move Williamson, citing both the forward’s diminished market value and internal pressure to contend.
Hornets standing pat on LaMelo Ball
The Charlotte Hornets face a similar dilemma with LaMelo Ball. The 22-year-old guard has already missed two games this season because of an ankle impingement, adding to an injury history that clouds his trade value. A Western Conference scout told ESPN that Ball’s talent is unquestioned but questioned his commitment, saying teams would “take a flier,” though Charlotte will not entertain a discounted offer.
Charlotte’s depth is also thin: rookie wing Brandon Miller is sidelined by a shoulder injury, and the franchise still hopes its young core can develop together.
Bucks wait on Giannis’ verdict
In Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokounmpo has kept the conversation quiet for now. The Bucks opened 5-3 while the two-time MVP averages 32.3 points on nearly 68 percent shooting. Earlier this fall, Shams Charania reported Antetokounmpo wanted 20–25 games to judge whether the roster can contend. That benchmark has yet to arrive, leaving Milwaukee’s immediate future unchanged.
