The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached a one-year agreement with free-agent forward Alize Johnson, giving the 29-year-old an opportunity to compete for a roster spot in training camp.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the deal Tuesday on X (formerly Twitter). Contract terms were not disclosed, but the agreement is expected to be a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10. Such a structure allows Minnesota to convert the pact to a two-way contract before the regular season or, if Johnson is waived, to pay him a bonus of up to $85,300 should he spend at least 60 days with the organization’s G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves.

Selected 50th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2018 NBA Draft, Johnson has appeared in 76 regular-season games across five seasons with the Pacers, Nets, Bulls, Wizards, Pelicans and Spurs. He has averaged 2.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in 7.5 minutes per contest while primarily serving in reserve roles.

Johnson last held an NBA contract with San Antonio, which waived him in December 2022. After a brief stint in the G League, he played overseas in South Korea, Puerto Rico and Japan beginning in 2023.

Minnesota currently has three openings on its 21-man preseason roster, so no corresponding move is required to add Johnson ahead of camp.
