The Minnesota Timberwolves have added guard Jules Bernard on a two-way contract, according to Monday’s entry in the NBA.com transaction log, first noted by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
The 6-foot-6 shooting guard went undrafted out of UCLA in 2022 and has spent most of the last three and a half seasons in the NBA G League with the Motor City Cruise, Capital City Go-Go, Cleveland Charge and Iowa Wolves.
This season with Minnesota’s G League affiliate, the 26-year-old has appeared in 36 games, averaging 22.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 34.7 minutes while shooting 42.9% from the field, 35.3% from beyond the arc and 80.1% at the free-throw line.
Bernard has prior NBA experience, spending most of the 2023/24 campaign on a two-way deal with the Washington Wizards and totaling 149 minutes across 19 games.
The Timberwolves did not need a corresponding move; they opened a two-way slot last week by waiving Johnny Juzang after he reached his 50-game active limit. Bernard joins Enrique Freeman and Rocco Zikarsky as the club’s current two-way players.
Under league rules, Bernard may be active for up to 14 regular-season games with Minnesota. He would need to be converted to the 15-man roster to be eligible for the playoffs.
