The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed free agent guard Johnny Juzang to a one-year contract, the team announced on September 15.
The agreement was initially reported on August 1 by ESPN’s Shams Charania, who indicated the deal is expected to be for the veteran minimum. Chris Hine of the Star Tribune later reported that the contract is non-guaranteed, giving the 24-year-old a chance in training camp to earn a place on the 15-man roster or secure a two-way slot.
Juzang joined the Utah Jazz as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA in 2022 and spent three seasons with the club—two on two-way contracts and last season on a standard deal. He signed a four-year contract with Utah in August 2024, but only the first season was guaranteed; the Jazz waived him in June before his $2.84 million salary for 2025-26 became locked in.
The 6-foot-7 wing appeared in 64 games during the 2024-25 campaign, averaging 8.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 19.8 minutes while shooting 42.9 percent from the field, 37.6 percent from beyond the arc and 84.9 percent at the foul line. Utah finished with the NBA’s worst defensive rating, and Juzang’s individual mark of 120.3 was the second-highest among Jazz players who logged at least 500 minutes.
With Juzang’s addition, Minnesota’s offseason roster stands at 16 players: 13 on standard guaranteed contracts and two on two-way deals. The Timberwolves still have a two-way qualifying offer outstanding for guard Tristen Newton.
