The Minnesota Timberwolves are surveying the point-guard market and have identified two possible targets: Chicago Bulls guard Coby White and Charlotte Hornets guard Collin Sexton, league sources told Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
Fischer reported that Minnesota has “checked in” on White, whose $12.9 million expiring contract makes him a manageable salary-cap fit but provides no team control beyond this season. The 23-year-old is averaging 21.2 points and 5.2 assists in the final year of his deal and is on course for unrestricted free agency next summer.
The Timberwolves have also conducted background work on Sexton as they continue to map out their options, Fischer added. Sexton, acquired from Utah during the offseason, is producing 15.5 points per game for Charlotte. Like White, he can enter unrestricted free agency after the season.
Minnesota enters Tuesday at 19-10, fifth in the Western Conference. While firmly in the playoff picture, the club remains focused on reinforcing the roster around rising star Anthony Edwards and its veteran core.
