Thunder’s Jalen Williams to undergo Sunday evaluation after right leg injury in Miami

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Jalen Williams will be re-examined on Sunday after leaving Saturday’s road game against the Miami Heat with what the team called right thigh soreness.

The injury occurred midway through the second quarter. Williams grabbed the back of his right leg, exited under his own power, and headed straight to the locker room while limping and bent over in discomfort.

Head coach Mark Daigneault told reporters, via the Associated Press, that medical staff will evaluate the 23-year-old on Sunday. The Thunder have not provided a timetable for his return.

Williams missed the first 19 games of the season following two surgeries on his right wrist. Since making his season debut, he has appeared in 24 contests, averaging 16.8 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.8 rebounds in just under 30 minutes per game.

Last season, Williams earned his first All-Star selection, was named to both the All-NBA and All-Defensive teams, and played a significant role in Oklahoma City’s 2025 championship run. Any setback to his leg is therefore viewed with heightened concern.

If Williams is sidelined for an extended period, The Oklahoman’s Justin Martinez reports that rookie center Chet Holmgren is expected to take on a larger share of the scoring duties.
