Oklahoma City Thunder rookie center Thomas Sorber will miss the entire 2025-26 NBA campaign after tearing the ACL in his right knee during an off-season workout, the team confirmed in a press release on Thursday.
The injury, first reported by The Stein Line’s Marc Stein, occurred Wednesday. Sorber, 19, was selected No. 15 overall in the 2025 draft and had been expected to compete for minutes in the Thunder’s frontcourt rotation.
During his lone college season, the 6-foot-9 big man averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 blocks before a left foot surgery sidelined him for the closing stretch of the schedule.
Sorber becomes the second consecutive Oklahoma City first-round pick to lose his rookie year to an ACL injury; last season’s No. 12 selection, Nikola Topić, also missed the year while rehabbing the same ligament.
The Thunder recently locked up Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams to extensions and had viewed Sorber as a potential factor in their long-term frontcourt plans alongside veteran Isaiah Hartenstein. With Sorber sidelined, Oklahoma City is expected to rely on Hartenstein and Jaylin Williams to anchor the interior this season.
