Haywood Highsmith remains several weeks away from his first appearance with the Phoenix Suns, despite recent statements from his agent indicating the swingman had fully recovered from offseason knee surgery. Team sources told Arizona Sports 98.7 that the organization is focusing on Highsmith’s long-term role after signing the 29-year-old to a two-year deal that is not fully guaranteed in 2026/27.

Club officials view Highsmith as potential depth should the front office move a wing such as Royce O’Neale or Grayson Allen during the summer, giving Phoenix a veteran replacement on a team-friendly contract.

Green back, Booker pairing on horizon

Jalen Green, limited to seven games in his first season with the Suns by a lingering hamstring injury, is no longer listed on the injury report as the schedule resumes. “He’s in a good spot right now,” general manager Brian Gregory said, praising the guard’s approach to rehab and workouts.

Gregory added that he expects Green and Devin Booker to become “one of the best backcourts—if not the best—in the NBA” once they log extended minutes together.

Brooks draws automatic suspension

Dillon Brooks will miss Thursday’s game in San Antonio after receiving his 16th technical foul, triggering a one-game suspension. He would face additional one-game bans for every two technicals the rest of the season, though Gregory expressed confidence Brooks will avoid further infractions, noting multiple discussions about the importance of staying on the court.

Cole Anthony status

Veteran guard Cole Anthony, acquired at the trade deadline in a cost-saving move, remains on the roster but is listed as “not with team.” League sources still anticipate Phoenix will waive him in the near future.
