Suns, Raptors held brief talks on potential Nick Richards swap

The Phoenix Suns and Toronto Raptors recently explored a minor trade scenario involving center Nick Richards, according to Gerald Bourguet of Suns After Dark.

Under the concept discussed, sources told Bourguet the Suns would have shipped Richards to Toronto, with Phoenix receiving guard Ochai Agbaji and a second-round draft pick in return. The conversation was described as preliminary, and no agreement is imminent.

Reports indicate the Suns are in no rush to make a move and have reservations about Agbaji’s fit on their roster. Phoenix was also said to be unimpressed by the second-round compensation Toronto was willing to include.

It is unclear which specific pick was on the table, but either of the Raptors’ available 2026 second-round selections currently projects in the 50s, limiting its perceived value.

For now, the dialogue is considered exploratory, and Phoenix is expected to wait for a more appealing offer before deciding whether to part with Richards.
