The Phoenix Suns are upgrading guard Jamaree Bouyea from a two-way deal to a two-year standard NBA contract, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Bouyea, 26, joined Phoenix on a two-way agreement in November and has since appeared in 33 games. He is averaging 6.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 15.5 minutes per night while shooting 48.0% from the field, 31.7% from three-point range and 71.0% at the foul line.

The new deal fills the roster spot the Suns opened Friday when they waived guard Cole Anthony. Phoenix had acquired Anthony from Milwaukee in a three-team trade at the deadline, but he never reported to the club.

The contract marks a significant milestone for Bouyea, who has spent parts of the past three-plus seasons on six different teams through a series of two-way and 10-day agreements. Undrafted out of the University of San Francisco in 2022, he attended Miami’s training camp that fall and was waived before the season. He later signed 10-day contracts with the Heat and Wizards, returned to Miami in the 2023 offseason, and then accepted two-way deals with Portland and San Antonio during the 2023-24 campaign. Bouyea also logged five games with Milwaukee last season before another brief stint with the Spurs.

With Bouyea moving to the 15-man roster, Phoenix still has one vacancy that must be filled by Wednesday, the final day teams can add players to two-way contracts. Koby Brea and Isaiah Livers currently occupy the Suns’ two remaining two-way slots.
