The Phoenix Suns are bracing for an extended absence from guard Jalen Green after he re-injured his right hamstring during Saturday’s 115-108 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Green felt a sharp pain late in the first quarter after delivering a pass to Ryan Dunn for a corner three. He grabbed at the hamstring while hobbling toward the bench and needed assistance from two staff members to reach the locker room. The Suns quickly ruled him out for the remainder of the game.

Saturday marked only Green’s second appearance with Phoenix since arriving from Houston in the seven-team Kevin Durant trade. The 23-year-old missed the season’s first eight contests because of the same hamstring issue, then scored 29 points in his Suns debut on Thursday.

“Injuries suck, but he’ll work hard. He’ll be diligent with it,” teammate Dillon Brooks told reporters.

Medical imaging is expected once the club returns to Phoenix. Radio analyst John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 estimated the guard could be sidelined four to six weeks.

Head coach Jordan Ott said the team’s approach will not change despite the setback. “This team will have no excuses. We lace them up, go out and play,” he said, while adding, “You just feel for him. He worked so hard to get back.”

Dunn and Grayson Allen are candidates for increased minutes while Green recovers.

On a brighter note for Phoenix, Brooks returned Saturday after missing six games with a core muscle strain, finishing with 16 points, two rebounds and three assists in 28 minutes, including a late three-pointer that helped fend off a Clippers rally.
