Jalen Green is expected to rejoin the Phoenix Suns’ rotation on Friday when the club visits the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic.
The fifth-year guard sat out Phoenix’s last three games after experiencing tightness in his right hamstring. An MRI conducted over the weekend revealed no new damage, and Green is not listed on the team’s current injury report.
Hamstring problems have limited the 23-year-old to just four appearances this season. He missed the first eight contests with a strain suffered in training camp, aggravated the injury on Nov. 8 and was sidelined for 33 straight games before returning on Jan. 20. The recent bout of tightness surfaced in his second game back.
Green, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 draft, averaged 20.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting .422/.343/.799 over 307 games across his first four seasons with the Houston Rockets (32.7 minutes per game). Sent to Phoenix last summer in the Kevin Durant blockbuster, he has produced 11.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists on .432/.421/.778 shooting in 13.5 minutes per outing this year.
