The San Antonio Spurs matched the Detroit Pistons’ physical style on Monday night, emerging from Little Caesars Arena with a 114-103 road win that extended their longest winning streak of the season to nine games.

Rookie center Victor Wembanyama supplied 21 points, 17 rebounds and six blocks despite shooting 6-for-16 from the field. Guard Devin Vassell paced the offense, burying seven three-pointers on his way to 28 points as San Antonio finished 18-of-40 from beyond the arc.
“It’s definitely a night where we confirmed progression and confirmed potential. That was a good test,” Wembanyama said.
Three other Spurs reached double figures, and consistent ball movement kept Detroit’s defense in scramble mode. The Pistons entered the night on a five-game winning streak but found little traction after halftime.
“We know how talented Wemby is and how impactful he can be, but it’s not a one-man show over there,” Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. “They have a bunch of talented perimeter players.”
With the victory, San Antonio remained second in the Western Conference, trailing only the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder. Detroit gets its own look at the Thunder on Wednesday when the teams meet in the Motor City.
