NEW YORK — The NBA on Monday announced San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson and Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson as February’s Coaches of the Month for the Western and Eastern Conferences, respectively.
Western Conference
Johnson guided the Spurs to an 11-0 record during the month, securing his second Coach of the Month trophy this season. He previously captured the award in December after an 8-3 stretch, making him the league’s first two-time winner in 2025-26.
The clean sweep continued for San Antonio’s February accolades. In addition to Johnson’s recognition, Victor Wembanyama collected both Western Conference Player of the Month and Defensive Player of the Month honors, while Dylan Harper was named Rookie of the Month.
Other Western Conference nominees were Mark Daigneault (Oklahoma City Thunder), Chris Finch (Minnesota Timberwolves) and Ime Udoka (Houston Rockets).
Eastern Conference
Atkinson steered Cleveland to an 8-3 mark despite playing only three February contests at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. The run pushed the Cavaliers back into the conference’s top four after a rocky first half of the campaign.
Atkinson edged fellow nominees J.B. Bickerstaff (Detroit Pistons), Mike Brown (New York Knicks), Charles Lee (Charlotte Hornets) and Joe Mazzulla (Boston Celtics). The East has produced a different Coach of the Month every period this season, with Bickerstaff winning in October/November, Mazzulla in December and Lee in January.
