The San Antonio Spurs are starting to talk openly about championship aspirations after another emphatic victory on Sunday. The club routed the Houston Rockets 145-114, establishing season highs in points (145), assists (38) and three-point accuracy (52.5%), according to the San Antonio Express-News.
“Over the last 15, 20 games we’ve been super comfortable in every single game and given ourselves a chance to win,” guard Stephon Castle said. “We have nothing but confidence coming into every single game.”
San Antonio enters Tuesday at 47-17, the NBA’s second-best record and No. 2 in the Western Conference with roughly one month remaining in the regular season.
Lack of postseason experience remains the most prominent unknown, but center Luke Kornet believes the current surge resembles the buildup he witnessed with his former team in Boston before the Celtics captured a title. “It’s been a cool thing to be a part of,” Kornet said. “Especially because of how much we are growing and how young we are.”
