Spencer Dinwiddie’s next stop will be Germany. Bayern Munich announced that the 11-year NBA guard has signed a contract without an NBA opt-out clause, placing him on the club’s roster for the upcoming EuroLeague and Basketball Bundesliga campaigns.

Dinwiddie, 32, had agreed to a fully guaranteed one-year, veteran-minimum deal with the Charlotte Hornets in July. Charlotte released him last Thursday while trimming its roster to the regular-season limit, sending the veteran back into free agency.

The Colorado product spent the 2024-25 NBA season with the Dallas Mavericks, stepping into an expanded role after the Luka Doncic trade and injuries to guards Kyrie Irving and Dante Exum. He appeared in 79 games, starting 30, and averaged 11.0 points, 4.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 27.0 minutes, shooting 41.6 percent from the field, 33.4 percent from beyond the arc and 80.2 percent at the foul line.

Bayern Munich narrowly missed last season’s EuroLeague playoffs, finishing 19-15 before falling to Real Madrid in the play-in game for the final postseason berth. Domestically, the club has captured back-to-back Basketball Bundesliga titles and will pursue a third straight crown in 2025-26 with Dinwiddie now in the backcourt mix.
