HOUSTON — Rockets center Steven Adams left Sunday’s win over the Pelicans after twisting his left ankle late in the fourth quarter. According to head coach Ime Udoka, the joint was already badly swollen when Adams reached the locker room, but post-game X-rays were negative.
The 32-year-old big man turned the ankle while challenging a Zion Williamson layup and needed assistance to get to the bench. Adams has logged 32 games this season, averaging 5.8 points, 8.6 rebounds and a league-best 4.5 offensive boards in 22.8 minutes per night.
Durant passes Nowitzki on all-time scoring chart
In the same contest, Rockets forward Kevin Durant became the sixth-highest scorer in NBA history, surpassing Dirk Nowitzki’s 31,560 career points. The 37-year-old finished with 18 points on 5-for-18 shooting and added eight assists and six rebounds.
Nowitzki not interested in Mavericks’ top front-office job
Nowitzki told Sports Illustrated Germany he has no desire to serve as Dallas’ general manager. The Mavericks are operating with Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi as co-interim GMs after dismissing Nico Harrison; a permanent hire is not expected for several months.
Pelicans mulling discounted deal for Ja Morant
New Orleans Times-Picayune columnist Rod Walker outlined the benefits and drawbacks of trading for Grizzlies guard Ja Morant. Walker wrote that the Pelicans should explore a move only if Memphis is willing to accept a significant markdown.
