San Antonio, TX, Dec. 7, 2025 — With rookie center Victor Wembanyama sidelined, guard De’Aaron Fox has assumed a leading role in the Spurs offense, according to multiple reports. Fox has consistently penetrated defenses before finding open shooters, helping reduce the club’s turnover count while adding unpredictability to an attack often built around Wembanyama.
The 27-year-old has also provided a boost from long range. After entering the season with a 33.2% career mark from three-point distance, Fox is currently converting 37.8% on 6.4 attempts per game. He knocked down two late triples to secure Wednesday’s win over Orlando.
“If defenders give me that step, I’m comfortable stepping back because I have the time and space to make the shot,” Fox said.
Spurs Injury Status
Second-year guard Stephon Castle (hip) and reserve center Luke Kornet (ankle) are listed as questionable for Monday’s meeting with the Pelicans. Castle has missed nine straight contests and is averaging 17.3 points, 7.5 assists, and 1.7 steals this season. Kornet sat out the recent loss to Cleveland.
Pelicans Deny Trade Talks
Amid speculation surrounding veterans Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy III, and Herbert Jones, team sources told NOLA.com that New Orleans has not engaged other clubs in trade discussions involving the trio. The Pelicans hold the league’s worst record at 3-21.
Coward Seeks Kawhi’s Guidance
Grizzlies rookie wing Cedric Coward hopes to train with Kawhi Leonard to speed up his development. “I asked him in the summer if we could work together,” Coward said after Friday’s victory over the Clippers. “He’s not on social media, so I have to find another way to reach him.”
