ATLANTA — Hawks center Kristaps Porzingis revealed that the ailment that sidelined him late last season and during the 2025 playoffs was identified as postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), he told The Athletic. The condition accelerates heart rate when a person sits or stands, often leading to extreme fatigue or dizziness.

“I could just lay on the couch and be a house cat,” Porzingis said, describing the exhaustion he felt before receiving a diagnosis. Since learning the cause, the 30-year-old has managed the syndrome without medication by following a high-salt diet and adhering to a stricter rest routine.

Porzingis also noted that Boston had discussed trading him to the Clippers, Spurs and Suns before he was sent to Atlanta, a move that caught him off guard but did not dampen his enthusiasm. “We’re an aspiring team, a young team that aspires to win a championship one day,” he said.

Herro’s Extension Window

Heat guard Tyler Herro, who hoped to secure a contract extension before this season, reiterated that negotiations will not affect his play, The Miami Herald reported. The next opportunity for an extension opens on July 1, 2026 and remains available until he signs or until June 30, 2027.

Scouts on the New-Look Magic

Five opposing scouts told The Athletic that Orlando’s acquisitions of Desmond Bane and Tyus Jones should address the club’s shooting and playmaking gaps. One evaluator called Jones “a true point guard” and said Bane offers secondary ball-handling and play-making while providing more offensive punch than previous addition Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Bridges Embraces Charlotte

Miles Bridges, the longest-tenured Hornet, has never reached the playoffs in Charlotte, but the forward told The Charlotte Observer he remains committed to the city. “I’m just hoping to reward the city with some wins,” Bridges said. “Defense, rebound and scoring the ball… just helping this team out the right way.”
