Slow Start and Injuries Raise Doubts About Veteran-Heavy Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers built their roster around experience, but an early 3-8 record and a growing injury list have some league insiders questioning whether the plan has already unraveled, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst.

Sources told ESPN that several team executives and scouts believe the Clippers “may already be cooked.” Their concern centers on age, lack of speed and a series of setbacks that have stripped away depth just weeks into the season.

Key injuries compound slow start

• Guard Bradley Beal is out for the year after suffering a hip fracture.
• Star forward Kawhi Leonard is coping with both a sprained foot and a sprained ankle.

Veteran additions struggling to deliver

The front office invested heavily in proven names, but early returns have been modest:

Brook Lopez, Nicolas Batum and Bogdan Bogdanovic have all posted limited production.
Chris Paul has fallen out of head coach Tyronn Lue’s regular rotation entirely.

An advance scout offered a blunt assessment to ESPN: “The Clippers move so slowly that once they turn the ball over or give up a quick action, they can’t recover.”

With injuries piling up and little margin for error, Los Angeles faces mounting pressure to reverse course before the season slips away.
