The Philadelphia 76ers are set to convert forward Jabari Walker from a two-way contract to a standard two-year deal, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on X.
Walker, 23, became the first two-way player this season to hit the NBA’s 50-game active limit, sidelining him for the four contests leading into the All-Star break. Philadelphia opened a pair of standard-contract slots by trading Jared McCain for a draft pick and sending Eric Gordon to acquire the draft rights to Justinian Jessup.
The club filled one vacancy on February 5 when Dominic Barlow signed a two-year pact with a team option. Walker will occupy the second spot after earning a place in head coach Nick Nurse’s rotation earlier this season.
After three campaigns with the Portland Trail Blazers, Walker joined the Sixers on a two-way agreement last summer. Known for defensive versatility and energy on the wing, he is shooting 27.0 percent from three-point range this year.
Philadelphia also announced the addition of veteran point guard Cameron Payne on Tuesday. According to Yossi Gozlan of The Third Apron, both Payne and Walker are expected to finalize their contracts Thursday, when the regular season resumes, a timetable that would leave the Sixers enough flexibility for another potential roster move before season’s end.
