The Philadelphia 76ers have chosen not to push back Quentin Grimes’ qualifying offer deadline, according to league sources cited by Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
Agent David Bauman had asked the club to shift the deadline from October 1 to October 8, but the request required mutual consent, and the team opted against it, reports Gina Mizell of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Negotiations between the 76ers and the 6-foot-5 wing remain stalled, with both sides “far apart” on a new contract, Fischer adds. Grimes now faces two options:
- Accept the one-year, $8.74 million qualifying offer, which carries an implied no-trade clause.
- Sign a different one-year agreement for slightly more money while waiving those protections.
Because the deadline will not be extended, Grimes’ contract status must be resolved by Wednesday.
