Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain is expected to log his first minutes of the 2025-26 season on Tuesday night, with the club listing him as probable for its matchup against the Chicago Bulls at United Center.
The 21-year-old, selected No. 16 overall in the 2024 draft, tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb during an offseason workout just before training camp and underwent surgery shortly afterward. He shed his splint early last week and returned to practice on Thursday.
McCain averaged 15.3 points, 2.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds while shooting .460 from the field, .383 from three and .875 at the line over 23 appearances (25.7 minutes per game) as a rookie. His debut campaign ended prematurely last December when he required surgery to repair a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee.
Philadelphia has opened 2025-26 with a 5-1 record after beginning last season 2-12. Head coach Nick Nurse will add McCain to a backcourt that already features newly crowned Eastern Conference Player of the Week Tyrese Maxey, rookie VJ Edgecombe and third-year guard Quentin Grimes.
The Sixers will remain without forwards Paul George (left knee surgery) and Dominick Barlow (right elbow laceration), both of whom are sidelined for Tuesday’s contest.
