As of August 7, 2025, 51 of the 59 players chosen in June’s NBA draft have finalized their first professional contracts. Every first-round selection has accepted a rookie-scale deal, while 11 second-rounders secured standard contracts and 10 others agreed to two-way pacts.
Two additional second-round picks have opted to remain overseas for 2025-26: Milwaukee’s Bogoljub Markovic will rejoin Mega Basket in Serbia, and Cleveland’s Saliou Niang has signed with Virtus Bologna in Italy.
Unsigned 2025 picks
That leaves six players whose immediate plans are still unsettled:
- Boston Celtics: Amari Williams (No. 46)
- New York Knicks: Mohamed Diawara
- Golden State Warriors: Alex Toohey
- Utah Jazz: John Tonje
- Golden State Warriors: Will Richard
- Memphis Grizzlies: Jahmai Mashack
Boston Celtics
Williams, the lone unsigned top-50 selection, was expected on draft night to accept a two-way contract. Boston currently has no two-way slots open; Miles Norris is returning, and recently acquired RJ Luis might be retained only as trade ballast. Waiving either player would free a space for Williams. Alternatively, the Celtics could sign him to a standard rookie-minimum deal, a move that would help trim luxury-tax obligations while filling the 14th roster spot.
New York Knicks
New York carries 12 players on standard contracts and is pressed against the second-apron hard cap. The club can add just one more veteran-minimum deal, making the 14th roster spot most likely a rookie-minimum signing. Diawara is a primary option, though 2023 second-rounder James Nnaji is also under consideration. If Diawara does not land a standard contract, the Knicks—who have three open two-way positions—are expected to offer him one of those spots. His French team has already confirmed his departure for the NBA.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors hold two two-way vacancies that could be filled by Toohey and Richard. Management may wait until Jonathan Kuminga’s restricted free-agency negotiations conclude before acting. Depending on Kuminga’s contract number, Golden State might elevate either rookie to a standard deal to stay below tax thresholds or avoid triggering the first or second apron.

Utah Jazz
Utah’s trade that sent Luis to Boston opened a second two-way slot. With John Tonje still unsigned and two-way restricted free agent Oscar Tshiebwe available, the Jazz can now retain both without releasing anyone.
Memphis Grizzlies
Mashack is the leading candidate for Memphis’s single remaining two-way contract. A domestic draft-and-stash scenario—where the guard spends his first year in the G League without an NBA or two-way agreement—remains a possibility, but a two-way deal is viewed as the more straightforward path.
No timelines have been announced for final decisions, but training camps open in early October, giving teams roughly two months to settle contracts and complete rosters.
