New York, NY — Ben Simmons has been dropped by agent Bernie Lee after indicating he was not interested in potential discussions with the New York Knicks, according to the New York Post’s Stefan Bondy.
The 29-year-old free-agent guard/forward had already been linked to both the Knicks and the Boston Celtics earlier this offseason but remains unsigned. A league executive recently told Hoops Wire that Simmons’ playing future “is likely over,” citing injuries and a sharp dip in production for the three-time All-Star.
Nets Remove No-Trade Barrier in Williams Deal
Brooklyn, NY — Forward Ziaire Williams has waived his right to veto any trade as part of a new two-year contract with the Brooklyn Nets, Spotrac’s Keith Smith reported. The agreement includes a team option for the 2026-27 season.
Contracts of this type typically carry an implicit no-trade clause, but the Nets sought additional flexibility. Williams and center Day’Ron Sharpe both relinquished that protection, while guard Cam Thomas accepted his qualifying offer instead, preserving more control over his next move.
Raptors Sign, Immediately Waive Tyreke Key
Toronto, ON — The Toronto Raptors have signed and then waived guard Tyreke Key on an Exhibit 10 contract, Sportsnet.ca’s Blake Murphy reported.
Key, undrafted out of Tennessee in 2023, averaged 6.8 points across 42 appearances with Raptors 905 last season. The Exhibit 10 arrangement allows Toronto to award the 6-foot-4 guard a bonus of up to $85,300 if he returns to the G League affiliate and remains with the club for at least 60 days.
