Stephen Curry’s knee setback raises question of delaying return until play-in

The Golden State Warriors will be without Stephen Curry for at least five more games as the guard continues to treat a lingering right knee injury. With the club sitting 4.5 games behind the sixth-place Los Angeles Lakers and 7.5 games ahead of the 11th-seeded Memphis Grizzlies, team officials are weighing whether it makes sense to keep the two-time MVP sidelined until the play-in tournament.
“It’s just something that you don’t want to have lingering because it can get worse,” Curry told reporters while discussing the injury.
Golden State has ruled out shutting Curry down for the season, but the current standings give the front office and medical staff room to prioritize long-term health over regular-season urgency. For now, caution appears to be the guiding principle as the Warriors monitor both Curry’s progress and the Western Conference playoff picture.
