Golden State is increasingly hopeful that Stephen Curry will rejoin the lineup before March ends, according to ESPN insider Shams Charania during Wednesday’s NBA Today broadcast.

The 38-year-old guard has not appeared since Jan. 30, missing 18 games with patellofemoral pain syndrome in his right knee. Both Curry and head coach Steve Kerr have repeatedly expressed confidence that he will play again this regular season; Charania’s latest update points to a possible return within the next few weeks.

Charania said Curry completed a “strong” on-court session Tuesday in Boston, running, cutting, taking light contact and, importantly, avoiding the swelling that prompted a platelet-rich plasma injection last month.

As noted by ESPN’s Anthony Slater, Curry remains limited to individual drills and has not yet practiced with teammates. The immediate goals are improved conditioning and ensuring full comfort while jumping and sprinting on the injured knee.

Despite the time missed, Curry is averaging 27.2 points, 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds across 39 games, shooting 46.8 percent overall, 39.1 percent from three and 93.1 percent at the line. He earned his 12th All-Star selection in February and has helped the Warriors post a 23-16 record when he plays. Without him, the club is 10-19.

Golden State has dropped 10 of its last 14 contests but still occupies a play-in position at 33-35. The Warriors trail the No. 8 Clippers while holding a half-game edge over the No. 10 Trail Blazers and a 9.5-game cushion on the 11th-place Grizzlies.
