The Portland Trail Blazers listed guard Shaedon Sharpe as doubtful for Wednesday’s matchup with the San Antonio Spurs, signaling the first potential game action for the second-year scorer since Feb. 6.
Sharpe, 20, has missed two months with a stress fracture in his left fibula. Before the setback, the 2022 lottery pick averaged a career-best 21.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals across 30 minutes per game, appearing in 48 contests and starting 42 of them. Portland enters Wednesday in ninth place in the Western Conference, positioning the club for the play-in tournament.
Acting head coach Tiago Splitter said last week that Sharpe had not resumed full basketball activities, noting the guard was limited to free throws and light work. The upgrade to doubtful marks a faster progression than previously indicated.
Sharpe signed a four-year, $90 million rookie-scale extension in October, a deal that begins next season.
Forward Vit Krejci is also doubtful for Wednesday. The 24-year-old has missed 11 straight games with a bruised left calf. Acquired from Atlanta on Feb. 1 in exchange for Duop Reath and two second-round picks, Krejci is averaging 7.4 points and 2.8 rebounds over 18 appearances with Portland.
