San Francisco — Free-agent guard Seth Curry is expected to sign with the Golden State Warriors on Monday, finalizing a deal that will keep him with the team for the remainder of the season, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The agreement marks a long-anticipated reunion. Curry, 34, attended Warriors training camp in October but was waived in the final roster cuts because his veteran-minimum salary would have pushed Golden State past the second-apron hard cap. By waiting to add him on a prorated contract, the club trimmed the cap hit to roughly $1.75 million, leaving about $264,000 in space beneath the apron.
If he remains on the roster through the end of the schedule, Curry’s total earnings will reach just over $2.7 million.
Now in his 11th NBA season, the guard led the league in three-point accuracy last year, hitting 45.6 percent of his attempts with the Charlotte Hornets. Over his career, he has averaged 10.0 points per game while shooting 43.3 percent from beyond the arc, establishing himself as one of the most dependable long-range threats in the league.
This signing will create a first for the Warriors: Seth and older brother Stephen Curry have never shared the floor together in a regular-season NBA game.
